System file checker doesn't find any problems. I've deleted the SoftwareDistrobution folder which does not solve the problem. When Windows starts back up the same message is present in the Windows update panel. There is no attempt at installing or configuring updates. The problem is that on the Windows update page shows the message "Restart your computer to install important updates." If you click on check for updates it will show: "Windows update cannot currently check for updates because you must first restart the computer so that a previous installation can be completed."Ĭlicking on the restart button just restarts Windows normally. I've seen it enough times that I would really like to find a solution other than doing a fresh install each time. I'm sure everyone has seen this problem several times.
